Frequently asked questions

Curious to know a bit more? Here are the answers to questions I most often get asked in relation to the MindBody approach and myself as a coach

The MindBody approach

  • People who adapt their perception of pain through this approach have consistently had positive outcomes. Progress depends on your unique situation and commitment to the process. No two journeys are ever the same so I encourage clients not to compare themselves with others.

  • We are all different. I encourage people to take things at their own pace. Generally, people start noticing changes within a few weeks as they begin addressing the emotional and psychological contributors to their pain. The approach is more about creating life long adjustments that will serve you for years.

  • The MindBody approach has been successfully used for a number of conditions. There is a full list available on this page.

  • No, this isn’t therapy. TMS/MindBody coaching provides you with neutral non-judgemental support. It is collaborative work to help you discover the answers, we focus on self-exploration, helping you understand how emotions, behaviour and beliefs directly affect your pain and we work to reconnect with yourself. The goal is to empower you with knowledge and tools to overcome pain and take control of your healing process.

  • I provide email feedback after each session together with comprehensive guides, action steps and worksheets to support you with this work. If you opt for my 3 session package you will have the added benefit of email support between sessions.

  • I have created a questionnaire to help you arrive at this conclusion. If you suspect your pain may be related to stress or emotions, coaching can be a powerful tool to explore and address those possibilities.

It is a necessary requirement before taking this approach that you have had all potential serious conditions ruled out (Cancer, Autoimmune illness, Nerve injury, some arthritic conditions).

About Me

    • Firstly I learnt all I needed to understand and believe I had TMS.

    • Secondly I worked on myself and my emotional load.

    • Beyond this point I did a lot of pain reprocessing.

    • I now live life with a MindBody awareness.

It took a lot of practice but it was worth it.

  • I found 2 aspects of the process particularly challenging.

    1. Being emotionally honest

    2. Pacing my return to activity

  • There were 2 tools that helped me more than anything.

    1. Expressive writing. I found this exercise invaluable for unearthing, processing and letting go of my emotional load.

    2. Thought reframing. Learning to catch those niggling thoughts and questioning their truth was game changing!

  • My own experience with the MindBody approach was the catalyst to train as a coach. I wanted to be the person I’d needed. My credentials so far include:
